A crisp apple with a little honey bee resting on it captures the sweetness of a late summer orchard. This harvest piece is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box from Limoges, France.

Orchard Visitor

Bees and apples go hand in hand, since every apple begins as a blossom that a bee has visited. This piece pairs the two in a small scene, with the fruit and its buzzing guest painted by hand.

For Teachers and Beekeepers

The apple makes it a classic thank-you for a teacher, while the bee makes it a natural present for a beekeeper, a gardener or an orchard owner. It also suits a Rosh Hashanah table, where apples and honey mark a sweet new year.

Harvest Shelf Pairings

  • Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
  • Fits an autumn, orchard or teacher grouping
  • Pairs with fruit basket, school bus and banana teapot pieces

Fired in the Old Tradition

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, and its decoration is added by hand. Set this apple on a teacher's desk, a kitchen windowsill or an autumn mantel among real gourds and leaves.
