Small Bird in a Cage Porcelain Limoges Box

A small bird perches inside a decorative cage, as if pausing between songs. Both the bird and its cage make up this porcelain Limoges box, painted by hand in Limoges, France, for anyone who wakes up to birdsong.

Songbird in Residence

Caged songbirds were once a fixture of parlors and sunrooms, and the cage itself was often as ornate as the bird was colorful. This porcelain cage carries on that tradition, with its little resident painted by hand.

Gifts for Bird People

It is a lovely present for someone who keeps a pet canary or budgie, a backyard bird watcher, an Audubon member or a friend who fills every room with plants and birdsong. It also suits a singer or voice teacher.

A Sunroom Perch

Set it on a windowsill, a sunroom side table or a shelf near a real bird feeder view. It also pairs nicely with botanical prints, potted ferns and a wicker chair in a bright garden room.
